I know nothing about them but a local pet store had a male red rump and he had the most beautiful call I've ever heard. I was told the female's call isn't as tinklie and pretty as the male's. Oh and when he spread his wings OMG! Absolutely stunning!
ya should see all the colors they come in my friend likes the blue but i think the silvery ones are gorgeous
they are like a parakeet arent they? i was looking at some for my aviary not sure how they would go as a handreared bird...
Boy you really missed out at the Fort Worth Bird Mart! There were quite a few different mutations of Red Rumps. They do make great hand fed pets. They are easy to breed... HOWEVER they are highly aggressive birds. You can not keep more than one pr in a flight or breeding cage. You will need to have a flight or cage of birds in-between your red rumped prs. because the males pace the wire trying to fight with each other instead of "getting down to business." These are evening/morning birds. Meaning they are active at this time. THey have a lovely voice that can increase a bit in volume during these hours but is not unpleasant. I have a friend in Dallas that has a proven split to blue male that she is trying to sell. He is not hand tame but is a good breeder/dad. If you would like her e-mail address to ask more about him let me know and I will send you a private message. I'm not sure she is going to the TBB show but she could send him. I'm going. Oh I forgot. Diane also had a hand fed pet Red rumped keet that someone gave her. She would be the person to talk to about the pet thing.
thanks kerry they had quite a few red rumps at the aebc bird mart hill coutry aviary had some nice ones at gret prices.
